Hello to all, and congratulations for making it to our Committee Profiles 2010! (Ong, 2009).
I am Nicholas Lam, the President of Monash University Malaysian Students Union (MUMSU) 2010. I am more than honoured to have succeeded Ronald Ong from 2009. I was previously a first year representative under the activities portfolio.
Damansara, Selangor, is my place of residence and i studied in SMK Subang Utama. I am in my 2rd year, pursuing Mechanical Engineering. Sports and music is my life. I would die without playing sports and music in a day. I think i play most of the sports but my main sports are volleyball, badminton and basketball. As for music, i play guitar, drums and a little bit of piano. I do a little bit of vocals as well..hehe..i’m always known as a person who is full of crap; i wonder why..
MUMSU is a club that aims to bring all Malaysians together. It’s a club that enables you to meet people from different states in Malaysia. We organise events for us, Malaysians, hoping that we can all unite and eventually become a huge family. I have always imagined MUMSU as a block of coal. My team and I will be the flame that provides heat to a coal, to MUMSU. If the flame is strong and never ending, the coal turns red and produces never ending heat. It will then be just as hot as the flame. Thanks to the previous committee, MUMSU is currently similar to a ‘flaming coal’. And as far as i know, you currently have a bunch of die hard committee members that are willing to put in not only their time and strength, but their blood and sweat for MUMSU. We, the committee members are really ‘high heated flame’. We are ready to get MUMSU ‘heated up’. We, the committee members are more than united, we are one, we are MUMSU. We would like all of our members to be just like us, to join us, to be more than united, to be one, to be MUMSU! I hope to see all Malaysians joining MUMSU as we are here to be one!
Feel free to drop me an email at nicholaslamyx@hotmail.com for further enquiries about the club. Or if you need anything, a friend, a person to talk to, a person to play music with, a person to play sports with, etc, please contact me. I want to be contacted!
50 years from now, ask yourself, would you have regretted joining MUMSU?
VICE PRESIDENT : Louis Ting
Hey guys, for those of you that don't know me, my name is Louis and I'm from Kuching, Sarawak.
I'm currently in my second year pursuing a double degree in commerce and in law. I'm a sports enthusiast like our president, Nick Lam. I'm more into football(soccer in Australia) and basketball so be sure, there will be MUMSU organized sporting events.
My goal for this club is to make sure that everyone who is Malaysian, half a Malaysian, a quarter(whatever that is) or just banyak campur-campur:
1)know about the MUMSU and what it stands for
2)be encouraged to join the club
3)benefit from being a member of our club.
I hope to see lots of participation especially in our main 3 events which are the Easter Camp, Ski Trip and MUMSU Ball. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on any of these events because tickets sell like hot cakes!! We will also be organising lots of other events that will range from sports to eating =)
Come to our events and meet our awesome committee. We're all nice =)
Louis Ting
SECRETARY : Jason Tao
Hey Y’all!! I’m Jason Tao, Your MUMSU secretary for 2010. Some people call be bro, ah pui, fat. I'll "try" to be responsive to those, but I'm most responsive when people call me Jason. Hahah..I’m pretty much a new face here. I came since early 2009. Anyway, I’m doing Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering 4th year. That’s like a scramble of Mechanical and bits from Electrical stuff, pretty much about building Robot.
Like the previous secretary, I’m from Penang as well. Penang is all about a small island revolving around good FOOD. We have the best hawkers all around town serving 24/7. Penang FOOD ROCKS!!! I can speak fluently in hokkien, Cantonese, Mandarin, but not in Hakka, or teochew. Unfortunately, I’m the type of new generation that doesn’t speak their own language (being a teochew lang, Lolzz…).
Feel free to have chat with me, or visit when I’m at Penang!! I’m happy to be part of the big MUMSU family. We’ll make this a better MUMSU!! Hopefully as “Gemilang” as their past years!! GO MUMSU!!
TREASURER : Raymond Tie
Hey guys! This is Raymond and I am your Treasurer for 2009/10. I'm on my 2nd year, studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws.
I moved from Kuching to Melbourne when I was 9 years old. I went to Balwyn High School before I graduated to University.
Apart from studying, I also tutor Accounting and work for a company called Harvey Norman. I'm a TV sales person there. (So if you guys are looking for a TV, look for me, I give pretty good discounts)
My leisurely interests include listening to all kinds of music, exploring different Hi-Fi systems, Cars, Formula 1 and racquet sports in general just to name a few. So if you guys feel lonely in any way, or if you simply want someone to talk to, just give me a call and I'll be there (this sounds like a song actually). Also feel free to call me up for a game of Badminton or Squash!
Just to close it off then, I wish the members or MUMSU the best of luck in whatever endeavours you undertake. Daft Punk once sang:"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". Rest assured, the new MUMSU committee of 2009/10 will be just that.
See you guys around!
Ray
ACTIVITIES OFFICER : Yen Wei Yun
Hey people, I am a 4th Year Chemical Engineering student. I am in this campus since early 2009 and participated in most of MUMSU activities and became familiar with it. Basically, I will be your activities officer who will be providing you members with FUN. If anyone have difficulties to receive any FUN, kindly do approach me. I won't bite. :D
So, having said that, hopefully, I receive feedbacks to improve on events. And hopefully (again), anyone just feel free to drop me with ideas for events which you may want it to happen! Finally, of course, please do come for all our FUN events. I will see EVERYONE of you around :D . Don't hesitate to say hi to me whenever wherever whatever however whichever way it is. :D (Feel free to chat with me, I am perfectly find with socializing activities)
Before ending this I would love to say : PARRRTAAAYYY!!!!!!!
Cherzs, Wei Yun
SPONSORSHIP OFFICER : Lim Lip Boon
Me fooling around with my new hair cut.
Hello to all awesome Malaysians!!! As many of you may not know me yet, I'm Lip Boon, currently a 2nd year Civil Engineering student, is honored to be the sponsorship officer of MUMSU for 2010. As for my brief background introduction, I'm from the awesome island of Penang, spent my high school life in CLHS, and did MUFY and first year engineering in Sunway. Fan to Arsenal football club, BBC documentaries, Lee Chong Wei, YUI and Sue's Delight, so please do let me know if you are interested in any of mentioned above ;) I look forward to fulfill my duty to gather as many sponsors as possible to make MUMSU's event bigger, better and greater than ever. So please do attend MUMSU's future event, there will definately be enough free food, freebies, discounts and much more goodies for everyone =p. I'm sure we all will have an awesome time together as part of the MUMSU family.
Hey guys! I’m Kokwee and I’m the IT Officer for this batch. I’m from Kuching, Sarawak, where there’s TONNES of stray cats and am doing my 2nd year in Mechanical Engineering. Really trying to “enjoy” it the best I can. Well, all I have to say is that, I’m friendly and don’t hesitate to say HI to me if you happen to run into me anywhere in campus. J
The thing that made me wanting to be part of the committee of the Malaysian Club is that I’m still extremely Malaysian at heart like everyone else, and make most out of my life here in UNI! The huge community of Malaysians here really makes me comfortable staying over here and we just have the unique accent Haha.
I really really love drawing, Chinese calligraphy and arts, guitaring, travelling, and swimming! And not to forget, my family and friends of course!
Ohyea if any of you guys run into any problems registering for the mailing list, do drop me an email so that I get things sorted out alright.
Seriously looking forward to know all of you guys out there and I believe next year is gonna be a blast!
kokwee!
Hi, I’m Melissa Tan, 1st Year Medicine Student from Monash University. I am currently holding the post of editor in MUMSU. So, the stuff I do or like: Anime, Internet, DBSK, JPop, Manga, Fanfiction, Kendo, Baking, Cooking, Reading, Games, Writing, Doodling, Travelling, Hanging out with friends, Sewing, Drawing etc (I really don’t want to bore you with the miles and miles of stuff that I like)
Stuff I don’t like: Gossiping (bad experience), Hong Kong dramas (sorry, I just cannot handle it), waking up early, studying (trust me, I know someone who do), dubbed anime (no way in hell!!!), people who dissed or disrespect my family and friends (you’re just asking for it), breaking a promise
Hmm, I’m never good in explaining myself so to know me, why don’t you try finding out for yourself? That really is the joy of friendship, right? Learning about the habits, personality, hobbies (and of course the skeletons in the closet for black mail material. Rofl). Ja, yoroshiku onegaishimasu! ^^
GEN. COMMITTEE : Victoria Yap
Hello! I’m Victoria Yap and I’m doing Bachelor of Laws. I am a people person. I enjoy being in the company of others and getting to know them personally. So I’m inquisitive as well. You can’t possibly get to know someone if you don’t start asking questions, can you? XD
I’m JaNine` and I’m one of the 3 General Committee girls J I’m from Johor Bahru (nearest to Singapore) and I’m currently pursuing Bachelor of Law. I’m generally an approachable person ( I hope so >.< ) and I can talk a lot sometimes and I’m sometimes known for being really RANDOM :D . Ohyeah, I bet some of you already seen me working in Peri- peri. Yups! I’ve been working there since this semester and please do not ask me for free food ( my boss will kill me if he finds out) but I don’t mind giving a little extra serving. Hehe!~
A short intro about me à i love watching Animes and dramas and reading mangas! I’m a food lover (although kinda picky sometimes) too! I love shopping and spending money :D I spend most of my time working part time and for the church. Besides that, I’m really bad at doing ‘hommie stuffs’ (eg. Sewing, cooking, baking, etc..). Hmmm, I’m not gonna continue so if you want to know more, don’t feel shy to approach me n be friends ! :D
I’m really really new to MUMSU, so I am really glad to have this opportunity to serve in MUMSU and at the same time getting to know about the club even more J I really hope to see the club achieving greater heights and in order to achieve that, we need ALL OF YOU to bring your Malaysian friends along and to participate and support ALL our upcoming activities/events. Cheers !
GEN. COMMITTEE : Sarah Foong
